ALASKA

Heli-Ski AdventurE

Big mountain heli-skiing on some of the world’s most iconic terrain. Delivered in partnership with experienced local heli-ski operators.

Alaska is widely regarded as the pinnacle of heli-skiing. Known for its vast peaks, steep faces, and long, uninterrupted descents, it offers a true big mountain experience unlike anywhere else.

Each day is planned around weather and snow conditions, with helicopter access unlocking high-alpine terrain and expansive lines. With fewer trees and more open faces, Alaska delivers a more technical and visually dramatic style of skiing.

WHAT MAKES ALASKA DIFFERENT

  • True big mountain terrain with steep, high-alpine faces

  • Long, uninterrupted descents with significant vertical

  • Minimal tree skiing, with most terrain above the tree line

  • Iconic landscapes recognised globally in ski films

  • A more technical and committing style of heli-skiing

THE EXPERIENCE

Alaska is defined by its scale. Wide-open faces, steep lines, and long vertical descents create a more technical and visually dramatic style of skiing compared to other heli destinations.

With most terrain sitting above the tree line, the focus is on big mountain skiing in a high-alpine environment. Each day is built around finding the best conditions and selecting terrain that offers the highest quality skiing available.

  • Previous heli-skiing experience is strongly recommended. Alaska terrain can be more demanding, with steeper lines and more exposed terrain.

  • A high level of fitness is recommended. Skiing in Alaska can be physically demanding due to terrain, vertical, and snow conditions.

  • Heli-skiing is weather dependent. In poor visibility, operators will often use tree skiing zones where possible. If flying isn’t possible, alternative skiing options may be arranged depending on location.

  • Most days include multiple heli drops, typically around 8–10 runs depending on conditions, group ability, and vertical usage.

  • You’ll need appropriate powder skis and off-piste gear. Safety equipment (such as avalanche transceivers, airbags, etc.) is typically provided, but we’ll guide you on exactly what to bring before the trip.

  • Yes — we offer both private group trips and open trips. If you don’t have a group, you can join a curated UNIQ X trip with like-minded skiers.

  • Alaska is best suited to advanced and expert skiers who are confident in steep, off-piste terrain and variable snow conditions.
